Kaohsiung International Airport held three inaugural flight events on Jan. 21st, 2025, launching new routes to Hokkaido, Bangkok and Okinawa. City officials say another, direct flight to Chiang Mai, Thailand, is gearing up for a late January launch. Residents of southern Taiwan and local travel agencies are reportedly excited about the new direct flights as not having to go all the way to the Taoyuan International Airport will make trips to these locations much easier.
All three of these locations, of course, are very popular tourist spots for people in Taiwan, and the new routes are part of the KH Govt’s push, officials say, to encourage more direct flights to and from Kaohsiung.
