The Taiwan Steel Group (TSG) Hawks kicked off their 2025 home season on April 4th at Kaohsiung’s Cheng Ching Lake Baseball Stadium with an exciting 4-3 victory against the Rakuten Monkeys. Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-ma threw the ceremonial first pitch, after which he joined the almost 15,500 fans in the stands to cheer on the Hawks.

Hoping to encourage student attendance, the Kaohsiung City Government launched a special promotion offering NT$50 tickets—normally priced at NT$300 to NT$400—for local junior high and high school students. Starting in June, the offer will expand to include elementary school students as well. More than 9,500 discounted tickets will be available throughout the season. Full details and reservations can be made via the event website: https://i-pass.co/6lq94e.

Some NT$376 million was spent on renovating the Cheng Ching Lake Stadium starting in from 2023. The upgrades include new spectator seats, 54 refurbished restrooms, new bullpens, nicer players’ lounges, and new VIP rooms. Safety issues were also addressed, and now the stadium has aisle lighting on each floor, and modern fire protection systems.
